With two wonderful locations spread out across San Juan as well as Ciudadela, it's truly one of the great finds when travelling around for amazing foods in the country of Puerto Rico. Famous for their Tapas (or small plates), you'll quickly find that there are an amazing assortment of foods to try that will put a smile on your face. They specialize in using only fresh and local ingredients from local farmers. This produces the freshest flavors and best experiences. Opened up just a few short years ago in 2018, Mercado La Carreta does it all with lunch, breakfast, brunch and of course their tapas. One exciting aspect of this restaurant is that they also have a small wonderful market where you can buy some locally grown items, fresh coffee, smoothies and more. This place truly is a perfect representation of the foods and dishes that are traditional to the island. Plenty of goodness to try here but some standouts appear to be their Fish Tacos, Plantains, Stuffed French Toast, "Broken Egg" Breakfast, Beer Battered Chicken and of course their fresh coffee with desserts of the day. Be sure to check them out, a true gem and worth the stop when nearby.
