GUMBO SHACK
There are literally dozens of varieties of diners scattered across the USA but it's those unique little secret spots that you come across such as this one that really puts a smile on your face. Their Creole flavors include the homemade Gumbo dish, Red Beans and Rice with the famous Spicy Crawfish Boil and plenty more. It's a great pit stop when passing by or on the popular route to Gulf Shores. One thing we continue to admire about this place is it's laid back and not pretentious in any sense. Cheap beer and good eats everyday which we appreciate. Place is on the small side but that adds to the cozy atmosphere and intimate feel. The service is excellent every time and the owners make an effort to greet you and make small chat which adds to the entire experience. We've heard rumors that this place is now closed since our last visit which would be quite unfortunate. It's places such as this that easily outdo any big chain restaurant. Everything is prepared fresh and to order and the service is unmatched. If it's still open when you arrive, be sure to thank them for their service.
