One of the few California based diners that can pull off an authentic Southern style of cooking, thanks to the chef that was born and raised in the state of Texas itself. Experience real comfort food options you'll absolutely love, such as the Pain Perdue, Potlikker Gravy and classic Shrimp and Grits that is as fresh as can be. The state of California is not known for southern hotbeds in the restaurant scene, so it's a fantastic find to bump in to Aunt Mary's Cafe in Oakland. As they like to say, it's all about Southern Food here with a Twist! Trust us friend, with a simple glance at their menu your mouth will start to salivate. Perhaps the hardest decision here is to narrow it down to a single item to order.. we bet you'll order a few! The outdoor patio dining option is without question our recommendation here as the fresh California air, cool breeze and sunny skies truly make it a memorable dining experience. Service here is super efficient and always very friendly. From the hundreds of cafes we have visited and recommended over the years, this has to be a shiny star each time and we're reminded why it continues to be on the top of our list each time we visit. While the Bay area truly is famous for plenty of dining options, when it comes to breakfast or brunch, not many can keep up with Aunt Mary's. Also, we do recommend that you indulge and go for the sweeter breakfast items here as they are done right and always with a Southern touch, every calorie here is worth every bit of one! So visit them when you're nearby, you won't regret it and surely make it a regular stop for breakfast.
